The territory of Abruzzo Italico e Alto Sangro LAG,
inserted mid-way between the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic Sea, in the centre of Italy and the Apennines, plunges the visitors into a strong variegated, intriguing and absorbing nature. It is easy to follow the flow of the river Sangro from its source in the National Park of the Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio, the uncontested kingdom of the bear of Marsica, eagles and buzzards, chamois and fawns, passing from the Alto Sangro, through the Altopiano delle Cinquemiglia and the Altipiani Maggiori, to the National Park of the Majella, land of the goddess Maja, a mountain in the sacredness of which the hermit Celestino V, a Pope "of the rejection", chose to live, land of wolves, owls and owlets, secular fairy beeches and thick vegetation growing between the gorges along which flow small streams and secret paths to access unexpected caves which used to be the refugee of legendary brigands.
It is easy to go down towards the valley, the basin of the Peligna and the Italica, a place where the Italic populations located their capital city, Corfinio, and to climb the gorges of the Sagittario up to Scanno, the destination of English explorers in the 800s.
In an unpolluted landscape, rich of historical witnesses, even sports can be practiced, combining the various disciplines with unique occasions to live experience, get to know cultures, traditions, jobs and tastes, discover various species of Apennine plants, flowers and animals and men and women who still tell stories, legends, sayings and proverbs.
A different way to do sports, be tourists, experience an authentic relaxation holiday, reload, understand and narrate.
