Climbing is a modern sport, becoming established on natural rocks and therefore, its origins lie in the mountain areas. Later, since huge mountain rock faces were not really necessary, climbing has spread through to the valleys on the faces ignored by mountaineers and which have instead been equipped and enhanced by these new climbers.
The aim of sports climbing is to pass over increasingly difficult rock routes without using any artificial means to do so. Rock face safeguards (pitons or better still, "spits") and ropes are only used to protect the climber in cases of falling. The main rule guiding the ethics of this modern discipline is to beat the wall "by fair means". This is where the sport stands out compared to the ethics of pure mountaineering: conquering the summit is not the only aim, but rather there is also the fascinating and athletic vertical dance, extreme and clean movements, wearing the proud guise of the modern athlete and sports enthusiast.

Climbing on the "Tacchi" of Ogliastra is also a full immersion in the delicious local traditions

The participating climbers create different groups. Then they equip 9 different routes. Courses of climbing are organised

Climbing in Ogliastra has a natural location in Aguglia, the very symbol of free climbing in Sardinia. On the limestone of Supramonte and of the Tacchi di Jerzu, the Baunei cliffs and the limestone shields at Jerzu, Ulassai and Osini, and many other places besides, the climber will find all of the possible terrains to satisfy the desire to experience nature through his/her favourite sport, practised in total safety and in completely uncontaminated environments.
